The public is invited to participate in a shoe collection drive to raise funds for the Programs and Services offered by the Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi such as the Alvin P. Flannes Summer Camp, Medication Assistance, and State of the art medical alert bracelets. Donations of gently worn used and new shoes will be accepted. The amount of money raised is determined by the number of shoes collected.
All donated shoes will be redistributed to microenterprise partners through Funds2Orgs, a for profit social enterprise, and used in developing nations for impoverished people to start their own businesses.
Starting August 31, 2016 – September 30, 2016 we will be collecting gently used and new shoes.
You can drop them off at the Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi’s office at 2001 Airport Road N., Suite 307, Flowood MS 39232 or call Tres Townsend at 601-936-5222 to schedule a pick up from your location.
In the US alone, approximately 630 million pairs of shoes are thrown away per year. The materials used to manufacture a pair of shoes are created from chemical compounds that will create health hazards if left to disintegrate openly or in landfills. By donating your gently worn used and news shoes to the Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi, your shoes are given a second chance to make a difference which will make strides for Mississippians living with epilepsy. It’s a WIN/WIN for both!
