The Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi is PROUD to announce the 2014 Heroes honorees:

This special event is to honor these honorees that have helped improve the lives of people affected by epilepsy in Mississippi. This year’s special guest speaker will be Phil Gatone, CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation of America.
Phil has a long personal history with the epilepsy community, which began when his son Philip, now 25, was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of four. Since then, Phil has educated thousands of people across the country about epilepsy and its impact on families. He also has developed curriculum for educators on strategies for building self-esteem and academic achievement in students with epilepsy, as well as a curriculum for students to become better-educated about seizures and epilepsy first aid.
In 2006, he led a nationwide initiative helping affiliates across the country meet national performance standards. Phil joined the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago in 2002, where he successfully led his team to the coveted Epilepsy Foundation “Affiliate of the Year” award in 2004.
Phil received his bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1981 from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., and his master’s degree in education in 2000 from National Louis University in Chicago.
Music will be provided by Mississippi’s own Tony Pasko of the hit show Duck Dynasty.
This special night will be emceed by Jeff Good.
